Alejandro García de Leaniz Peña (Valladolid, 1998) holds a degree in Fundamentals of Architecture from the University of Valladolid (2021, Special Award) and a Master’s degree in Architecture (University of Valladolid, 2022). He was a researcher in the 2021-2022 academic year through a Research and Collaboration Grant from the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training in the Department of Architectural Theory and Architectural Projects at the University of Valladolid.
In 2022, he received an Arquia Scholarship for academic achievement to carry out professional internships in the field of urban planning and city development at the Metropolis Foundation during the 2022-2023 period. During his stay, he developed urban and regional planning projects in Saudi Arabia, Colombia, Chile, the Dominican Republic and Georgia.
In 2024, he was a pre-doctoral researcher in urban planning hired by the University of Valladolid in charge of the Investigo programme of the Regional Government of Castile and León, participating in the working group on the ‘Guidelines for improving landscape integration and promoting sustainable urban design in innovative productive spaces in Castile and León’ promoted by the Public Infrastructure and Environment Company (SOMACyL).
Since 2025, he has been a pre-doctoral researcher under an FPU (University Teaching Staff Training) contract with the Ministry of Science, Innovation and Universities. He is currently working on his doctoral thesis on development planning in medium-sized Spanish cities during the period 1979-2008.
He is also a member of the GIR ‘Territorial and Urban Planning’ and the University Institute of Urban Planning (IUU) at the University of Valladolid and has participated in international conferences such as the VIII ISUF-H Congress (Valencia, 2024).
