El IUU, seleccionado para la exposición de paneles de la Green Week del University College of London

Un panel del IUU – Instituto Universitario de Urbanística ha sido seleccionado por parte del UCL’s Environmental Sustainability team (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/environment/vision) para participar a la exposición de paneles (http://www.ucl.ac.uk/greenucl/whats-happening/events/green-week-ucl-12/posters) que acompaña la Green Week del University College of London con el abstract intitulado “Landscape as Strategy in Urban Planning: the new Master Plan of Valladolid (2012)”

Abstract

Our group (IUU – Instituto Universitario de Urbanistica) with the contribution to the new Urban Plan of Valladolid (E) -a medium, historical and industrial city in the centre of the continental Spanish plateau- it is trying to design a new urban strategy for a contemporary city, facing its actual problems and improving its potential to the future.

In our planning method, developed in different researches, we create a “smart plan” for the city based in the sustainability as a strategy, not as a result. Through three interrelated systems (public open space, mobility and access, centralities and neighbourhoods) we are reading the local landscape and re-designing the urban structure. With twelve synthetic images it is possible a new approach to the complex genius loci of our city. In this plan the landscape is our reference in the urban re-generation, urban innovation and the design of the future urban areas.
