Alejandra Duarte Montes (Salamanca, 1997) holds a degree in Fundamentals of Architecture from the University of Valladolid (2020), a Master’s Degree in Architecture (2021) and a Master’s Degree in Innovation and Research in Architecture (2022, Special Award). During the 2019-2020 academic year, she was a research fellow in the Department of Urban Planning and Architectural Representation thanks to a grant from the Ministry of Education, and in 2020-2021 she received a scholarship from the Social Council.
In 2022, she was hired by the Institute of Urban Planning as a researcher in charge of the European H2020 Institutionalised Integrated Sustainable Energy and Climate Action Plans (2ISECAP) project, which focuses on bridging the gap between sustainable energy planning and implementation. The project seeks to promote, through living labs, the capacity of public authorities to manage sustainable development by actively involving civil society.
Since 2024, she has been a pre-doctoral researcher on a contract with the University of Valladolid, where she is working on her doctoral thesis on urban morphology in heritage cities. She is also a member of the Recognised Research Group (GIR) ‘Territorial and Urban Planning’ and the University Institute of Urban Planning.
She has published articles in journals such as EGA-Expresión Gráfica Arquitectónica, De Arte: Revista de Historia del Arte and Science of The Total Environment. She has also participated in various conferences such as CIOT, Conama, ISUF-H and Cities+. She has also collaborated on IUU projects, such as the drafting of the Peñafiel Urban Agenda and the Guidelines for improving landscape integration in productive spaces in Castile and León.
