Arturo Vicente Ruiz (Valladolid, 1997) holds a Bachelor’s Degree in Fundamentals of Architecture from the University of Valladolid (2023) and a Master’s Degree in Architecture also from the University of Valladolid (2025). He is currently a pre-doctoral researcher thanks to the 2024 call for pre-doctoral contracts at the University of Valladolid, and is developing his doctoral thesis on Urban Regeneration practices on public military land and their impact on Socio-spatial Production processes in Spain. This work is directed and supervised by Federico Camerin, who is a Ramón y Cajal researcher contracted to the project ‘Military properties in Europe: Regeneration strategies and their effects on socio-spatial production processes’.
In the 2022/2023 academic year, he was awarded a “University Department Collaboration Grant” by the Ministry of Education and Vocational Training, which enabled him to carry out collaborative work in the Department of Urban Planning and Architectural Representation at the Higher Technical School of Architecture of the University of Valladolid. Among these tasks, it is worth highlighting the production of his Final Degree Project, entitled “The social dimension of urban mobility in the 21st century: A conceptual and operational review”, supervised by Luis Santos y Ganges, for which he obtained the highest mark, as well as joint second prize in the “VI IUU Prize for Young Researchers in Urban Studies” awarded by the University Institute of Urban Planning of the University of Valladolid (IUU-UVa). In addition, he carried out editorial review and layout work for the journal Ciudades, published by the IUU-UVa in collaboration with Ediciones Universidad de Valladolid.
In the following academic year, 2023/2024, he was awarded a “Collaboration Grant from the Social Council of the University of Valladolid” for research work in university departments and research institutes. During the period of the grant, which he is carrying out under the auspices of the IUU-UVa, he is once again performing editorial review and layout work for the journal Ciudades. He also continued his research in the field of urban mobility and its social dimension, which led to his participation as a speaker in June 2024 at the ‘XVII Colloquium on Urban Geography / I International Colloquium on Urban Geography: The city in the 2020s and 2030s, perspectives on urban spaces in the 21st century’ held in Valladolid and Burgos, with the paper “Accessibility and social justice in urban mobility for more sustainable urban planning”, co-produced with Luis Santos and Ganges.
During the second half of 2024, he collaborated with the Local Action Group (LAG) “Asociación Tierras Sorianas del Cid” on the project “HabitaRural: rural housing agency”, funded by the Ministry for Ecological Transition and Demographic Challenge (MITECO), carrying out inventory and cataloguing tasks for residential properties in nine population centres in the province of Soria.
